Modeling of Beams and Columns has been expanded and enhanced, allowing for much greater flexibility and better workflows:
Two-click Element Placement
In 3D, easily create Beams and Columns with 2-clicks between any two points in space. On Floor Plan, define a Column’s slant angle with two clicks, with a pre-defined height.
Consistent Structure Types between Column and Beam
Beams now support Circular structure type, consistent with Columns.
Improved Column Graphical Editing
New cursor edge snapping to Columns on Floor Plan, to improve selection and alignment.
New Floor Plan editing of Columns, such as offset edge/edges, consistent and familiar with existing interactions.
Enhanced Reference Axis
•Axis Rotation for Beams has been expanded to support Rectangular and (new) Circular structures, not just Profile (as in previous versions)
•Modifying the relative location of the Reference Axis for Beam and Column now keeps the axis in place, consistent with Walls and Slabs.
•Beam now supports the same 9 reference axis locations as Columns, while retaining the reference axis offset for all locations.
•Reference Axis of selected Columns and Beams are now visible in Section/Elevation.
Angled End Cuts and Segment Joins
•Angle of Beam and Column ends can now be customized, per end, to be horizontal, vertical or custom (such as 90 degrees perpendicular).
•Angle of Joins between segments also can be customized, the same as end cuts.
•Graphically edit end cuts and Join angles in 3D or Section/Elevation.

Vertically Curved Beams
Beams can now be vertically curved by editing the value of deflection between the start and end points, via settings or graphically via pet palette commands in 3D or Section/Elevation. Slanting is also supported, so the start and end points don’t need to be horizontally aligned.
Note: Tapered segments and Beam tilting are not supported for vertically curved Beams.
Openings in Beams
Beam is now compatible with the new Opening tool.
Opening in the web of a reinforced concrete beam
Note: Openings in Columns are not supported, due to structural considerations.
Fixed or Flexible Length Segments
Define Beam or Column stretching behavior at the segment level by setting each segment as either fixed or flexible. In case of multiple flexible segments, choose the proportional percentage of each. This provides control on which segment will stretch (and how) when changing the height of a Column or length of a Beam.
Bottom segment is flexible - Top segment is flexible
For example, if the bottom segment of a prefabricated concrete column with corbels is set to flexible, while the other segments are fixed, then stretching will also change the corbels’ position. In contrast, if the top segment is set to flexible, while the other segments are fixed, then the corbels’ position will remain in place when the column height is stretched.
Copy/Paste and Transfer Segment Data
In the Beam and Column settings segment list, use the context menu to copy/paste size, structure, and property settings between segments. Alternatively, use parameter transfer (pick up/inject) to transfer settings between segments.
