Profile Origin in Profile Editor Window

The Origin shown in the Profile Editor window is a significant reference point.

You cannot move the Profile Origin, but you can move the profile shape itself, so that it correctly positioned with respect to the origin.

Wall Profile

If the profile is a Wall, the origin represents the location of the Wall’s reference line.

Column or Beam Profile

For a Column or Beam, the origin represents the location of the element’s axis.

In case of profiled Beams used in a Stair structure: for correct connections, make sure that the Profile Origin is defined at the top of the profile. (Alternatively, choose a top location for the Anchor Point).

See also Beam Anchor Point.

Curtain Wall Components

This applies if the Profile is set to be “used with” Library Parts, and if the Library Parts for Curtain Wall components are set up to use Profiles (as in the AC 22 Library).

If the profile is a Curtain Wall Frame, the origin is located on the inside of the glazed surface. The downward direction in the profile represents the inside direction of the Frame. Generally, the Profile Origin will be located at the upper midpoint of the profile.

If the profile is a Curtain Wall Corner Frame, the origin is located on the inside of the glazed surfaces at their intersection.

Frame

Corner Frame

If the profile is a Curtain Wall Frame Cap, the origin is located on the inside of the glazed surfaces at their intersection.

If the profile is a Curtain Wall Corner Cap, the origin is located on the outside of the glazed surface. The upward direction in the profile represents the outside direction of the Frame.
