Openings

Use the Opening Tool to place an Opening element in a Wall, Slab, Mesh, or Beam.

An Opening is a hole that provides space for engineering items such as elevators and MEP elements. A limited-depth Opening can be defined, e.g. to create a Wall niche or Slab recess.

The polygonal geometry method enables Openings in custom shapes for any architectural purpose. You can also use the Magic Wand for polygonal Openings.

Every ARCHICAD Opening is associated to an element: Wall, Slab, Mesh or Beam. The Opening’s position is relative to that associated element, and moves along with it.

A single Opening can cut multiple elements at once. For example, a suspended ceiling modeled from three separate elements can be cut by a single Opening.

Like any other model element, each Opening has ID, Classification, and Property data. Schedule and Label these values as needed.

Set the show/hide status of Openings using Model View Options (similar to Door/Window).
