Example 4: Cutback

This adjuster is the opposite of Stretch: it cuts back the Structural Analytical Members which overlap.

Turning on the visibility of the Structural Analytical Model, it is possible to detect the following issues:

Gap between Walls and Slab

Slab edge is not aligned with the Walls;

The Walls overlap each other at the corner.

1.To solve the first issue, stretch Walls to Slabs using the Stretch adjuster.

2.Next, cut back the excess Slab to align it to Wall edges, using the Cutback adjuster

Parameters: In this example, we are using a full edge cut, since the entire Slab runs along the full Wall length. Thus, uncheck the “Partial cutback” option.

3.To solve the third issue, we will cut back both Wall edges that intersect and overlap in the corner. Here, Walls act as both modifiers and targets, and the operator is “to each other”, since both Walls must be analyzed and cut.

The adjusted structural analytical model should appear as shown below.
