Slabs are the basic horizontal building blocks in ARCHICAD. They are typically used for modeling floors, split levels or ceilings.
Attributes for each part of the Slab’s representation are set in the Slab Settings dialog box.
Like other construction elements, a Slab’s essential structure derives from its Building Material.
Note: The Floor Plan outlines of Meshes and Slabs on remote stories (if they are shown on stories other than their home stories) are displayed using the line type set at Project Preferences > Legacy.
While a Slab’s surface is defined as part of its Building Material, you can override each of the three Slab surfaces (top, bottom and side) surfaces in the Model Panel of Slab Settings.
It is also possible to assign a separate surface and a separate edge angle to each edge of the Slab.
To aid in precise element placement, each Slab has a Reference Plane that helps you control connections to other elements.
The Gravity function also works for Slabs: turn on the Gravitate to Slab command as an aid in placing elements onto the surface of the Slab.

Slabs can be included in a Structural Analytical Model generated in ARCHICAD.
