CodeMeter hardware key couldn’t be updated because of network issues

Affected version(s): ARCHICAD 20, 21| Severity: workaround applicable


The ARCHICAD Update installer presents the following error message after start: “Error! Connection to server has failed. Please check your internet connection and start this update installer again!”


The ARCHICAD Update tried to convert the locally plugged in CodeMeter hardware key from Kernel Extension class to Human Interface Device class, but it couldn’t proceed as the required server is not available on your network. The server is most probably blocked by the Firewall, an Antivirus program or by the Proxy settings.


The following server must be added to bypass/exception list depending on your application:


By entering this address in your browser, you can check whether our server can be reached from your computer. If it is accessible, the following message appears:

“You do not have permission to view this directory or page.”

If other error messages appear, the server cannot be reached from your computer. Please contact your IT personal to enable the connection.

/!\ Note: If you have Proxy server, make sure the http communication is enabled.
