Black screen occurs after restart or shutdown command if BIMcloud / BIM Server is installed on macOS 10.13 High Sierra

Affected version(s): BIMcloud / BIM Server 20 and 21 | Severity: workaround applicable | ID: #235201

Issue

After the installation of BIMcloud or BIM Server version 20 or 21, a restart or shutdown of the computer will cause a black screen and/or spinning icon. The length of the restart or shutdown process is undetermined so a shutdown would need to be forced.

For this reason please consider postponing migration to 10.13 High Sierra.

Workaround

Before restarting or shutting down the computer it is advised to manually stop the BIMcloud Monitor subpart of your server applications. Open an Terminal application and run the following command:

  • BIM Server v20 / BIMcloud v20 : sudo launchctl unload /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.graphisoft.TeamworkServiceProcessManagerAgent-v20.0.plist
  • BIM Server v21 / BIMcloud v21 : sudo launchctl unload /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.graphisoft.TeamworkServiceProcessManagerAgent-v21.0.plist

As installing macOS updates usually involves a computer restart, make sure to use the above workaround before applying operating system updates.
