Working with Point Clouds
ARCHICAD opens .xyz and .e57 file formats and converts them into objects, which can be placed on the Floor Plan or in the 3D window. The user can then align the building model to point clouds, on the Floor Plans, sections/ elevations and the 3D window.
Point Clouds are not visible on any published output!
Import and place Point Cloud files for the following workflows:
•
Modeling existing buildings prior to renovation: The point cloud serves as the initial basis for the architectural model of the rebuilt/renovated building.
•
Modeling the surroundings prior to creating a new building: Use point cloud import to create a rough model of the surroundings and neighbor buildings, as an aid to visualization.
•
Modeling the “as-built” building for detecting the deviations from the planned state.
