ARCHICAD STAR(T) Edition 2014 was released on January 16, 2014. Based on the industry-leading Virtual Building technology of ARCHICAD 17, ARCHICAD STAR(T) Edition 2014 has been tailored to the needs of smaller architectural practices. ARCHICAD SE2014 contains all the tools necessary to create the building information model from which the entire architectural documentation is derived.

STAR(T) Edition 2014 introduces a wide array of modeling and productivity improvements focusing on the most requested customer wishes. provides the full power of ARCHICAD 17's one-of-a-kind, end-to-end BIM-based documentation workflow, allowing the model to stay live until the very end of the project: it simplifies the modeling and documentation of buildings even when the design contains a high level of detail.

Enhancing overall performance with improvements to computing speed and power come from GRAPHISOFT's commitment to expanding the possibilities available to the architect. Designers will also benefit from faster navigation with OpenGL, improved Solid Elements Operations and faster handling – loading and display – of library parts.

IFC Support ensures the smoothest workflow in collaboration with engineers. Sophisticated 3D editing enhancements ensure the most precise input.

New Features in STAR(T) Edition 2014

morph.jpg Priority based connection
The brand new Priority Based Connections put a real ROI on the work invested in the creation of the Building Information Model, by automatically providing construction documentation level sections and details.
BIMc.jpg Intelligent building materials
New, intelligent building materials ensure correct graphical representation of materials in sections (cut fills), and element surfaces in 3D views. This not only simplifies the user interface, but also allows the same material to be used consistently throughout the design project..
shell.jpg Enhanced performance on complex profiles
ARCHICAD 17 supports the creation and manipulation of large, complex models by featuring industry-first "Background Processing Support" for faster generation of complex model details. Optimized Scaling of Multiple-core CPUs and boosts performance on large, complex models. Improved Central Graphics Unit Performance makes 3D navigation and OpenGL even smoother.
ifc.jpg Improved MORPH tool
The MORPH® Tool introduced direct modeling capabilities into the native BIM environment, allowing element creation with any custom geometry in an intuitive, graphical way. The latest improvements help designers at the conceptual design and mass modeling phase. Architects can list the volume and surface area of single Morphs separately by story. This data provides valuable input at the conceptual stage about the useful area of the planned project.
profilemanager.jpg Real-time 3D cutting planes
Architects can define 3D cutaway sections of the model graphically in the 3D window, using one or more cutting planes in any location. This greatly improves not only the 3D editing processes, but also the visualization of complex models, displaying only relevant parts of the building in the 3D view.
slanted.jpg Core-based wall reference line
To support more consistent element positioning and intersection logic, Wall Reference Line options have been re-named and expanded in ARCHICAD STAR(T) Edition. Users now have the option to assign the reference plane not just to either side of the wall, but also to either side of the wall’s core skin.
drawing.jpg IFC support
ARCHICAD Start Edition 2014 supports the import/export and data structure of the latest IFC standards. The Open BIM workflow supported by the IFC protocol enables collaboration between architects and engineers regardless of their discipline or the name and version of their application.
3d.jpg Place external drawings
Link PDF, DWG/DXF or Image files in your project from the file menu or with a simple drag & drop and handle them dynamically with ARCHICAD Start Edition 2014.
3d.jpg Curved beams
Use the Beam tool to create beams that are curved on a horizontal plane. This way, beams can serve as support structures along curved walls. Such wall/beam intersections will automatically be shown correctly in sections (no need for solid element operations to represent them).
